Confidentiality and permissions

Agree confidentiality terms before sending sensitive commercial information. Confirm which details may be shared with the other party and obtain the necessary permissions for any personal or third-party data.

Financial commitments

Clear scope before work begins

There is no single fee suitable for every negotiation. We assess the required preparation, transaction complexity, number of parties, countries, meetings and deliverables before proposing a service fee.

Service fee

A written proposal explains the work included, deliverables, timing and price.

Payment milestones

Any deposit, staged payment or balance due is set out before commencement.

Third-party expenses

Travel, interpretation, independent inspection, legal review and other external costs are identified separately where applicable.

Additional work

New meetings, extended timelines or a change in scope may require written approval and a revised fee.

Success-based fees

Any commission or success fee applies only if separately agreed in writing, including how it is calculated and when it becomes payable.

Boundaries and safeguards

Clear responsibilities protect every party

Negotiation support helps organise and communicate commercial issues; it does not remove the need for due diligence, written contracts or appropriate professional advice.

Authority must be explicit

Abmia only communicates offers, accepts terms or represents a client within authority expressly agreed in writing.

Verification is a separate task

A negotiation engagement is not proof of a counterparty’s identity, solvency, product quality or performance history.

Legal advice is not implied

Contract interpretation, legal drafting and jurisdiction-specific legal advice should be provided by qualified legal professionals.

Outcomes are not guaranteed

We can coordinate the agreed process, but cannot guarantee agreement, savings, a sale, investment returns or a successful partnership.

Frequently asked questions

Business negotiation support FAQs

Answers to common questions about scope, fees, representation and the negotiation process.

Can Abmia Shippers negotiate on our behalf?

Representation may be possible where it is expressly agreed in writing. The scope must define who may communicate, what can be discussed, whether offers may be made and which decisions require your written approval. Abmia does not assume authority to bind a client to a contract or accept an offer without explicit authorisation.

Can you guarantee that the other party will accept our terms?

No. Negotiation outcomes depend on the parties, market conditions, information available and commercial priorities. We can help prepare, coordinate and communicate within the agreed scope, but cannot guarantee agreement, savings, sales or a successful partnership.

How are your fees calculated?

Fees depend on complexity, countries involved, preparation required, meeting time, duration and deliverables. After reviewing your request, Abmia can provide a written scope and fee proposal. Travel, translation, professional advice and other third-party costs should be identified separately where applicable.

Do we need to pay before work starts?

The proposal will specify the payment schedule and any deposit or milestone payments. Work begins after the agreed acceptance, payment and information requirements have been met.

Can you review contracts or provide legal advice?

Abmia can help organise commercial issues and coordinate questions for the parties. Formal legal interpretation, drafting or legal advice should be handled by a suitably qualified lawyer in the relevant jurisdiction.

Can you help with negotiations in African and overseas markets?

We can assess requests involving African markets and selected international markets according to the transaction, local requirements, language needs, available contacts and practical feasibility. Coverage and deliverables are confirmed case by case.

What if the other party is not verified?

Tell us about your concerns before proceeding. Separate company, supplier or representative verification may be recommended and quoted. Negotiation support alone should not be treated as proof that a counterparty is legitimate or financially reliable.

Will our business information remain confidential?

Information handling and confidentiality terms should be agreed before sensitive documents are shared. Only provide information through the channels specified for your engagement, and identify any material that must not be disclosed to the other party without approval.
